New “Cross-Train” Fitness Class

This is a special class being offered in January: Mon - Thur at 8:30-9:15 a.m.  at 7:15 p.m.

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00pm

The 1st and 3rd week it will be for adults 17+
The 2nd and 4th week will be for children 11-16




Kids Night Out

Kids Night Out July Celebration

December 11, 6:00 – 10:00 pm

You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate.

Kids Night Out is for children from 1-10 years old. Ages 1-4 will be in the YMCA Child Watch Center, where they play, participate in a craft project and have a healthy snack and dinner. Children ages 5-10 will be on HWY 90 at the YMCA Youth Activity Center. There will be swimming, games, crafts and a healthy snack and dinner. Cost:

YMCA Member Preferred Price: $15, with each additional sibling $10 each.; Program Participant Price: $20, with each additional sibling $10 each. Space is limited, so sign up early! Try our easy online registration!

Jewelry Making Class

By Donna Anderson.  Donna has done 2 other classes here in the past.  Design and make your own ear rings with beautiful crystals and stones.  Take them home with you that day.

22nd  Annual Winter Classic 10K Run & 1 Mile Health Run/Walk

Kids Night Out July Celebration

You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate.
Races start at 9:00 a.m. Late registration at 8:00 a.m. race day.


Held in conjunction with the Gulf Coast Running Club. Cost is $12 for GCRC Members, $13 for non-members, $7 for children ages 12 and under. Only early registrants (entries postmarked by January 19, 2009) will be guaranteed a T-shirt on race day. Entry forms may be picked up at the YMCA Wesson Memorial Wellness Center, or try our easy online registration!




Winter Classic Family Fun Day at the YMCA

You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate.
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.


Held in conjunction with the Winter Classic Run. Bring the family to the Blossman Family YMCA for a day of fun. Participate in the Winter Classic Run or Health Run/Walk. There will be games and activities for the kids. The YMCA will be open to everyone from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Visit the pool and take advantage of Family Swim time and pool games. Hot dogs will be for sale.

Book Club

There are two book club groups. One meets the first and third Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. The second group meets the fourth Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join in at any time. Enjoy lots of good reading, discussion and fellowship.


Sit and Fit Chair Aerobics

Every Thursday, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Join us in a new low impact exercise for adults with low mobility. A chair is incorporated into each exercise allowing all abilities to participate. Use of weights and stretching are also included.

There will be no class on Nov. 12, 19 or 26.

Traditional Okinawan Martial Arts Classes

Tuesday and Thursday Nights

Blossman Family YMCA, 1810 Government Street, Ocean Springs.

You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate.

Karate, a system of combat developed on the island of Okinawa, helps develop a strong character and builds a feeling of respect toward our fellow man. The study of karate provides excellent all around exercise and develops coordination and agility. Isshin-ryu, a traditional Okinawan martial art, emphasized the whole person – to develop the mind, body and spirit – as a way of life. Ages 8 to 13 meet at 6:00pm, with the teen and adult class beginning at 7:30pm. An 8-week Beginner Course is $40 for YMCA members and $60 for program participants. Monthly rates are $25 for YMCA members and $40 for program participants. New students should meet with the instructor 15 minutes before class. Kids Night Out July Celebration

The YMCA has teamed with Bay Blades Fencing Club to offer fencing lessons at the YMCA Youth Activity Center. No experience is required, and beginners are welcome. Classes are open for ages 15 to adult. Fencing has evolved into a gentlemanly competition, perfect for young and old to condition the body, develop speed and agility, and improve balance. Anyone interested in fencing is invited to sit in on a class and participate in basic drills in order to get a feel for the sport. Be sure to wear comfortable workout clothing and athletic shoes. Cost for the program is $30 per month for YMCA members and $50 per month for program participants.
